The Principal's Address
KIRSTIE SMITH
Step onto Stage Ltd was founded by Kirstie in 2014 and started with 22 students in a church hall. We have now grown so much as a school and have over 120 children/young adults who train with us throughout the week and at weekends in many disciplines at Walsgrave C of E Academy.

Step onto Stage Ltd has many incredible teachers who are regarded highly in the industry and who teach for the company during regular classes and workshops, which are ongoing throughout the academic year. As well as the team of teachers that are part of Step onto Stage Ltd, we also have a close group of people who have been with the company since the beginning and without them Step onto Stage could not run the way it has over the years.

The main ethos at Step onto Stage (SOTS) is to provide a safe and family environment, where children and young people can learn and develop their skills. SOTS is well known for its professional standard, attitude and well behaved students within the community as well as the many places we have had the opportunity to perform at, such as: The Abbey Theatre, Leamington Spa Centre, The Hilton hotel, Alton Towers and Birmingham Hippodrome. We endeavour to give our students a wide range of opportunities. We were successful in our audition to dance at Disneyland Paris in 2020 but, due to COVID-19 we have had to cancel this. We hope to offer this amazing opportunity to our students in the future.
Alongside all of these very exciting events we always have a final summer showcase every year. This year we performed at the The Royal Spa Centre, Leamington, with our showcase ‘PROMINENCE’ where we had another stand out showcase with incredible feedback and praise towards the students and team. We will be performing again at the Spa Centre next year, 2024, for our TENTH showcase which will be an absolute stunner of a show as it will celebrate 10years of STEP ONTO STAGE!

Not only does Step onto Stage teach as an evening dance and theatre school but, we have an amazing Dance and Gymnastics/Acrobatics programme where we go into many schools within Coventry and the surrounding areas. We are currently in 7 schools and are ever growing to ensure all children get a fun, accessible and amazing provision for dance and gymnastics in their national curriculum whilst up-skilling teachers to become more knowledgable. We also offer many after school clubs alongside this.
Kirstie is extremely passionate about Step onto Stage and endeavours to teach and ensure that the four words Step onto Stage live by are;
Dedication, Determination, Aspirations and Discipline
All of our students, from the youngest to the oldest, understand and appreciate these words and in turn this enables us to have a strong family bond through everything that we do within Step onto Stage. The teachers we have are extremely devoted to the growth and development of every student, whether they want to pursue a career within the performing arts industry or to continue their hobby. The company are extremely proud to have many students who have successfully gained places in top stage schools and universities across the UK and who are now currently training and working professionals.

Step onto Stage is a second family to all of our past and present students. We are a school that requires hard work, passion, perseverance and drive from all of our students and in turn we provide hard working and devoted teachers to ensure our students are trained by the very best people to the highest standard.
